about program

BS Politics & International Relations (IR) is a critical academic discipline that bridges the gap between theoretical political studies and real-world international affairs. As per HEC’s Undergraduate Policy 2023, Section 4.2, this program must ensure a multidisciplinary approach with a strong foundation in political science, history, economics, and international law. The first year typically includes foundational courses such as Introduction to Political Science, Fundamentals of International Relations, and Comparative Politics. The second year dives deeper into courses like Foreign Policy Analysis, Global Governance, and International Organizations. Advanced years involve research methodology, Pakistan’s Foreign Policy, Strategic Studies, and electives like Middle Eastern Politics, South Asian Politics, and International Political Economy.

The program also includes thesis or capstone projects that analyze real-world international scenarios, aligning with Bloom’s Taxonomy to ensure critical thinking and evaluation skills. Career prospects include positions in foreign embassies, the United Nations, World Bank, international media, civil services (CSS), and academia. As Pakistan continues to navigate complex diplomatic landscapes, graduates from this program will be instrumental in shaping policies that affect both national and global communities.
